Europa receives charity award for training

29 January 2010

The team at the Victoria Centre, Nottingham, has been awarded an ‘Action Award’ for their work with the charity ‘Action for Blind People’.

Paul Blackham, service delivery manager at the Victoria Centre, collected the award on 17 December at their Awards lunch. The team won the award for their contribution and dedication to training over the course of 2009. This consisted of training for over 30 of our employees in the techniques needed to guide blind or partially sighted members of the public within the Centre.

Employees from all departments took part in the training and everyone that took part gained a lot from the sessions. Europa has also passed on the contact and training information to retailers within the Centre who have also taken up the training for their staff.

The work the team at Europa has put into this training will positively contribute to the shopping experience of blind and partially sighted people that visit the centre and to the Action for Blind People cause.

Action for Blind People is one of the largest charities in the UK providing free and confidential support for blind and partially sighed people in all aspects of their lives. Their mission is to inspire change and create opportunities to enable people with sight loss to have equal voice and equal choice.
